摘要
本文通过考察19世纪和20世纪美国总统就职演说语料库中评价性重复手段的使用频率,探析这种手段在不同时期使用特征的异同点及其动因。这些特征一方面揭示出美国总统就职演说的社会语用功能,另一方面在语篇中体现出一定的评价意义与谋篇作用。
Through a survey of the overall frequency of English evaluative repetitive devices in the Corpus of Inaugural Addresses of American Presidents,this study aims to investigate the differences and similarities of distributional frequency in presidents＇ speeches in the 19th and the 20th centuries and to explore their motivations.The results not only show the socio-pragmatic functions of English repetitive devices,but also illustrate the evaluativeness and textuality of such devices in the inaugural addresses.
