An Exploration of College English Teachers' Development in the Context of General Education

在英语教学改革与发展的背景下,外语通识教育的理念受到普遍关注,通识教育可以作为我国大学英语教学发展的一个方向。文章基于对一组定义和关系、需求和趋势的梳理和分析,提出通识教育理念下大学英语教师发展的核心内涵,包括教师的知识结构、创新能力和自主能力,然后从内容和途径两个方面对基于该内涵的大学英语教师发展进行了探讨。

The concept of general education draws wide attention in the recent ELT reform in China. General education, therefore, can be an orientation of further development of college English teaching. The article, with a detailed analysis of related definitions, needs and tendency, puts forward the core definition of English teachers＇ development in this context, which includes teachers＇ knowledge and their ability of creativity and teacher autonomy. It, on the basis of the definition, explores the college English teachers＇ development in terms of the contents and methods.
