Women in the Patriarchal Society——Comment on The Great Gatsby from Feminist Perspective

《了不起的盖茨比》中多数女性被描述成自私、冷漠、空虚、金钱至上,具有依附性等。从女性主义视角来分析,这些非道德的女性形象和她们的悲剧生活与当时所处的父权社会有着密可分的关系,她们是父权制度的受害者。虽然父权文化仍占主导地位,但是女权主义已经萌芽,"现代女性"逐渐崛起。

Most of the women described in The Great Gatsby are selfish, cold, hollow, materialistic, and even parasitic. In fact, from feminist perspective, their immoral images and their tragic lives mainly result from the cruel patriarchal society. They are the victims of the patriarchal system. Though the patriarchal system still influenced most people at that time, feminism had appeared and quite a few of the Modern Women gradually emerged.
