Biography of Pan Gongshou

潘恭寿善山水花卉,中年皈佛后多作仙佛像。被后世视为丹徒派的前期代表人物。其画多有王文治题跋,世尤重之,称为"潘画王题"。两人珠联璧合的合作被视为画坛雅事,值得深入研究。

Pan Gongshou was good at landscape and flower painting.He began to draw Buddhist image after he believed in Buddhism in his middle age.He was regarded as the representative of the earlier school of Jingjiang Painting.Most of his paintings,with Wang Wenzhi’s inscriptions on,caused extensive attention.People call their perfect cooperation ＂Pan’s painting and Wang’s inscription＂ which is worthy studying thoroughly.
