Ammianus Marcellinus was the last great Latin historian who held respectability in the history of western classical historiography.Ammianus' life experience was unique.His life can be considered as an epitome of the political and ideological history of the later Roman Empire in 4th century.This paper tries to reconstruct Ammianus' life,so we can have a thorough comprehension about the Later Roman Empire and its historians.
