湖北襄阳楚王城西周城址调查简报

A Preliminary Investigation Report on City Ruins of Western Zhou Dynasty in the Chuwangcheng Site of Xiangyang

楚王城遗址是襄阳市域一处重要的西周遗址,2005年确认为西周城址。2011年复查后,对城址布局、城垣结构、城内文化层堆积和整体文化内涵有了较为明确的认识,并发现了附属的许家河遗址。本文认为,该城或许就是西周晚期楚熊渠征伐和封王之鄂王城。

The Chuwangcheng（the King＇s City of Chu State） Site,located in present Xiangyang City,was confirmed in 2005 as a city ruin of Western Zhou.After a re-investigation in 2011,city-layout,wall＇s structure,cultural remains of the city ruins were clearly identified,During the survey,an additional city ruin,the Xujiahe Site,that must be affiliated to the Chuwangcheng city ruins,was also discovered.This paper considers that this city could have been King Er＇s residency,which was invaded by Xiongqu of Chu State and later was bestowed to one of his sons in late Western Zhou dynasty.
