济公小说的演变及其形象简析

The Evolution of the Story about Ji Gong and A Brief Analysis on His Image

济公在南宋只是一个凡僧,其故事在民间流传过程中,被赋予了神异色彩,到清代演变成神通广大的知觉罗汉。记载济公事迹的文本,也经历了铭文、话本、章回小说的演变。济公一身兼具多重性格特征,中国古典小说中的"异僧"形象,几乎都能在他身上找到影子。本文试从济公小说的演变和济公形象两方面作分析。

Ji Gong was only an ordinary monk in the Southern Song Dynasty. He has been given miracu- lous features during his story was circulating among the people, so to the Qing Dynasty his has become a re- sourceful arhat with great magic power. The texts of his story have also evolved from epigraph, to story - tell- ing scripts, and finally to full length novels. The image of Ji Gong has multiple characteristics ; from this image we can find the shadows of almost any image of ＂miracle monks＂ in ancient Chinese novels. This paper tries to give an account of the evolution of both the text of story and the image of Ji Gon~.
