摘要 Plant stomata enclosed by pairs of guard cells mediate water transpiration, gas exchange as well as responses to a spectrum of environmental stimuli, including light, drought, salinity and pathogen invasion. Stomatal movement triggered by these environmental factors constitutes an initial signaling output that is critical for plant functions such as photosynthesis, water conservation and defense. Thus stomata serve as a frontline of plant interaction with the environment.
