祖国的中医药学的历史至今已有数千年之久。神农氏社会时代,开始发现药物;奴隶社会时代,孕育了中医药业;封建社会时代,形成并发展了中医药业;民国社会时代,中医界与西医界艰难抗衡;社会主义新中国时代,中医药业空前繁荣。它凝聚了中华民族的智慧和才能,也是我国医疗卫生事业强劲发展的特色和优势。
