Jef.Verschueren's Theory of Pragmatic Adaptation and Choice Making for the Purpose of Adaptation in Translating Process

维索尔伦的语用顺应理论认为,语言使用的过程是一个基于语言内部与外部原因,在不同意识程度下不断做出语言选择的顺应过程。以此为研究视角和探讨的理论基础,指出翻译行为不仅是一个连续不断的选择和顺应的意识行为,也是实施这一意识行为的动态过程。选择和顺应不仅体现出翻译行为的特点和复杂性,同时也体现出从多角度和多层次的视域阐释和指导翻译行为的过程和原则。

According to Jef Verschueren＇s theory of pragmatic adaptation, language use is a continuous making of linguistic choices with different degrees of salience for the purpose of adaptation. Based on this angle and the comparison between language use and translation, the paper attempts to confirm that translation is a conscious behavior which is actualized in a continuous process of making choice for the purpose of adaptation. Making choice for the purpose of adaptation is not only the feature of translating which shows its speciality and complexity in the whole translating process, but also provides the principle in explaining and directing translating behavior from a multi-angle and multi-layer view.
