空空道人是明末靖江王朱亨嘉的王子朱若极,即清初著名画家石涛;吴玉峰为明末宗室、曹寅的幕僚朱赤霞。朱赤霞通过石涛的一幅《对牛弹琴图》试探曹寅后,将《风月宝鉴》交给曹寅。
