FUNCTION AND CHANGES OF GUIZHOU BAIKU YAO’S CLOTHING

白裤瑶服饰制作工艺复杂、造型样式极具特点,并具有遮羞御寒、娱乐、艺术、教育等多种文化功能,是白裤瑶民族文化的重要载体。随着白裤瑶聚居地旅游开发的展开,白裤瑶服饰也随之发生了一些改变,令人忧心的是传统白裤瑶服饰的制作工艺后继乏人。因此,保护和传承白裤瑶服饰文化首先要延续和加强白裤瑶对本民族服饰的认同;其次要建立相应的保护机制,使白裤瑶服饰艺术产生一定的经济价值。

Baiku Yao (also known as Dayaoshan Yao) is a branch of the Yao, clan named from the man's white trousers, mainly distributes in Guizhou and Guangxi. Its clothing style, cultural identity and aesthetic content all have its own characteristics and cultural functions. His trappings are the important carrier for Baiku Yao’s ethnic culture. In this paper, the author thinks that with the development of tourism in the areas of Baiku Yao reside, Baiku Yao’s trappings have changed. It makes us worry about its traditional manufacturing process will be faced with lack worthy successors. Therefore, protection and inheritance of Baiku Yao’s trappings culture should firstly pursue and enhance Baiku Yao people to identify their national trappings; secondly, relevant protective mechanism should be built up so as to let the clothing art of Baiku Yao’s produce a certain economic value.
