讨论了桂林市城市信息系统的目标和建立原则。桂林市城市信息系统的总体目标是建设一套具有桂林特色的高效的现代化信息系统 ,使同行业内及各行业间实现资源共享和信息交换 ,能为城市的日常生活、管理和决策服务。为实现这一目标 ,应该采用先进的计算机技术和信息技术 ,在统一性、标准化、先进性、发展性以及安全与保密性原则下 ,将各职能部门集成为一个综合地理信息系统。该系统应该具有信息服务、办公自动化、辅助决策、辅助规划和公众服务功能。

The total target and establishing criterion of Guilin city information system has been discussed. The total target is to build a high efficient and modern information system with Guilin character. The system can realize the resource share and information exchange of the same department and between departments, and can serve the needs of the daily life, management and decision. To reach the target, the advanced computer technology and information technology should be adopted, and in terms of the criterion of uniform, and standardization, and advancement, and development, and safety, all departments should be integrated into a poly-geographic information system. The geographic information system should have the functions of information service, office automation, subsidiary decision, subsidiary planning and public service.
