文化研究以批判日常生活与常识为目的,以捍卫日常生活为方法,其批判性和参与性体现出一种置身其中但又超然物外的乌托邦精神。当代大众文化的再生产已经无法离开消费者的接受、认可和广泛参与。文化研究是对文学理论的重构和对乌托邦精神的呼唤,这种批判要与传统的文学、艺术概念保持距离,是一种辩证的批判。文化研究对传统文学研究僵化的"能指"提出质疑,不断寻找全新"能指—所指"意义链的过程将使自身一直处于进行时态中。

To criticize daily life and commonsense is Cultural studies＇ intention, and to defend it is the latter s method. The criticalness and involvement reflect a kind of utopian spirit of entanglement hut detachment. Back to daily life is rethinking the elite culture with mirror and inter-text logic. On the Marxism standpoint, the production and symbol consumption in contemporary society provide a material basement for utopian spirit. Utopia is hope but not illusion, to criticize reality is its kernel. Cultural studies will reconstruct the literature theory, and its critique must keep distance from traditional art concept, and it is dialectic. Cultural studies question the rigid signifier on literature and will be in the progressive tenses to find newer literature study＇s ＂signifier-signified＂ chains.
