Western Origin of Free Thought of Miscellany for New Citizens

近代自由主义从西方文化中产生,当它通过法国大革命向全世界进行传播时,遇到了各种各样的情况。在中国,《新民丛报》学人以西方文化为参照标准,形成了对自由的不同认识。这种认识的来源主要有三个,即古希腊的自由精神、英国式的自由主义和欧陆式的自由主义。这些来源为《新民丛报》学人传播西方自由思想提供了基础和条件,并在一定程度上促进了辛亥革命时期中国社会的思想解放。

Modern liberalism was produced from the Western culture. When it spread into the whole world through the French Revolution, it encountered various situations. Authors of Miscellany for New Citizens formed different acquaintances, referring to western culture. They came from free spirit？ of Ancient Greece, liberalism of England and European continent, and provided base and condition for authors of ＇ Miscellany for New Citizens＇ promulgating western free thought. They promoted ideological liberation of Chinese soeiality.
