Degree programs with English Medium Instruction(EMI) are indispensable for the internationalization of higher education. However, successful EMI courses that benefit students from home and abroad depend on factors such as the faculty, students, teaching materials, teaching methods and teaching environments. This paper, based on an investigation carried out in a university that is directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, comes to two conclusions concerning bilingual/EMI courses.First, language is not only the shell of thought, but also the medium of exploring the Western cognition.Second,by classroom planning and communicating with students, teachers as the central part of classroom ecology exert influence on students' English proficiency as well as their academic progress.
