摘要
西北大学沿袭西北联大的公、诚、勤、朴校训四个范畴都含有中华传统文化中的优秀因素,但在诸子不同派别学说中,四者各自的地位不同,含义有差别。法家突出公,儒家强调诚,墨家注重勤,道家归本于朴。在20世纪前期的历史条件下,将诸子学说中的优秀因素统合起来,又注入了近现代西方文化的精神,提出"公诚勤朴"的教育理念,继承和发展了中华传统文化。
Gong, Cheng, Qin, and Pu make me scnol. motto of Northwest University All these four categories em-body excellent elements of traditional Chinese culture, but their positions and their implications are different. Legal- ists emphasize Gong, Confucianists stress Cheng, Mohists attach importance to Qin, and Taoists give prominence to Pu. Northwest University, combining the excellent elements of different schools and taking in the spirit of modern West, proposes the educational idea of Gong, Cheng, Qin, and Pu in the early period of the 20th century. The propo- sition of these four categories as school motto is in fact a succession and development of traditional Chinese culure.
