在传统社会中,男耕女织是基本的生活现象,纺织是家庭的重要经济来源。自近代以来,由于农村的纺织业受到西方资本主义经济的冲击,打破了中国原有的自给自足的自然经济,自然灾害的影响,以及城市化的兴起,使许多农村女子走出家门,来到城市从事女工、女佣、女艺人等职业,她们为城市的发展做出了重要贡献,同时也对她们自身产生了重要影响。

In the traditional society, the basic life style is that men do farm work and women do textile work and textile is an important source of income for the family. Since modern times, as the rural textile industry was impacted by the western capitalist economy, China＇s original self-sufficient natural economy was broken. Besides, with natural disasters and urbanization, many rural women came out of their home and work in the city as workers, maids, artists and so on. They have made a great contribution to the development of the city and their work also has had an important influence on themselves.
