The Real and Fantasitic Gallery of the Rimland in Xiangxi——On the Reality Reflected in the Works by Shen Congwen

沈从文与中国大多现代知识分子一样,内心深处葆有对社会道义、民族命运的强烈责任感和参与重建的热切愿望,因此,作品中对现实的反映和揭露是非常深刻的。沈从文这一特点,应该说贯穿了他创作的始终,本文试从以下几个方面加以论述:一、沈从文早期传奇作品中的残酷现实反映;二、《长河》现实生活的画卷;三、抗战时期杂文中对残酷纷乱现实的关注。

Like most of the intellectuals in China, Shen Congwen bears in his heart the responsibility for social morality and national future, as well as the desire for participating in the reconstruction of the country. Therefore, he imparted the reality of the society profoundly in his works. Since reflection of the real world is the permanent characteristic of Shen＇s literary creation, this paper deals with this point from the following three perspectives. Firstly, the cruel reality reflected in Shen Congwen’s early stories. Secondly, the real life reflected in his novella The Long River. Thirdly, the chaotic reality he focused on in his essays written during the period of anti-Japanese War.
