摘要
作为"新文化运动"的旗手,胡适的一生都在扮演"传道者"的角色。其深厚的旧学和丰富的西学基础孕育了他思想家的特质和实践家的潜质。胡适的高等教育思想交汇中西、卓然一家,他开科学教育之先河,强调科学研究的作用、倡导学术自由和学术自立精神;他的高等教育实践注重理论和实践的平衡协调,强调学术研究工作对大学的重要性,关注个体的健全发展。无论是在北京大学,还是中国公学和规划清华国学院,都体现了他自由、民主、科学的理性精神,这些理念不仅对建立近代意义上的中国大学产生了切实的影响,也为当代的办学者提供了良好的参考借鉴。
As a leading figure of 'the New Culture Movement',HU Shi acted like a preacher in his lifetime.His unique achievement both in thought and practice can be attributed to his foundation of profound Chinese learning and abundant western learning.HU Shi's thoughts over higher education integrated by the Chinese and western cultural heritages,which was a good demonstration as well.He was a pioneer of science education,who emphasized the function of the scientific research and advocated the free and independent spirit of academic studies;his higher education practice focused on keeping a balance between the theory and the practice,attached the importance of academic studies to universities,and concerned with the comprehensive development of individuals.Whether in Perking University,or China's public school and planning Tsinghua University,his rational spirit of freedom,democracy and science was embodied,and these ideas not only practically influenced the construction of Chinese universities with modern sense,but also functioned as a good reference to Chinese contemporary educators.
