In 1905, a young engineer named Sven Wingquist invented the first self-aligning roller bearing in the world and therefore set up Svenska Kullager Fabriken (SKF). From then on, the amount of inventions and patents of SKF has been growing at a distinctively high speed of 2 or 3 per day. Due to its preeminent product performance, SKF enjoys high prices while its Chinese competitors have to suffer from relatively lower prices. Maybe few people knows that, for the over-100-year-old SKF, the bearings have already meant much more than just a simple kind of machinery product, which is probably one of reasons why it maintains such high profitability during past years. In Cover Story we will show you why SKF claims to be a knowledge-based company and how it hopes to Equip the World with SKF Knowledge!
