Reinterpretation of Rabindranath Tagore and His Cosmopolitanism

泰戈尔不仅是举世闻名的诗人、作家和艺术家,还是一个具有积极入世思想的社会活动家。本文重点扼要地从他的文艺创作活动和社会活动入手,对他的世界观、宗教观和教育观进行分析、阐发,发现了贯穿于他整个人生的主线,即逐渐成熟的世界主义思想。这不仅表现出人类面对政治全球化和经济一体化所产生的焦虑,也说明泰戈尔在这种心态里寻求互相关联与和谐共存地生活于同一个世界里的努力。

Rabindranath Tagore is a social activist with the thought of this-worldliness, as well as a world renowned Indian poet, writer and artist. This paper attempts to reinterpret his cosmopolitanism which is the leading thought embedded in his whole life, through the analysis of and discussion on his conceptions of world, religion and education reflected in his literary works and social activities. Tagore’s conception does not merely show his anxiety resulting from political globalization and economic integration confronting human beings, but also demonstrates Tagore’s aspiration to human’s interconnection and harmonious co-existence in the same world.
