Warriors for the soul——Three types of priests fighting against the religious belief

本文通过对具有代表性的宗教人物形象的解读,揭示了三种不同神职人员的虔诚信仰与内心情感的冲突,对比了他们身上体现出的人性被宗教异化后的经历和不同的人生结局,从而阐释了文艺复兴运动后英文小说中对宗教的体现及其对人类认知的局限性。

This paper interprets three kinds of priests described in several novels,reveals the conflicts between the faithful religious belief and their inner emotions which are embodied in different priests,and compares their experiences and final results.The purpose of the thesis is to interpret the reflect of religious influence on the English novels written after the Renaissance and its limitation to human cognition.
