摘要
随着移动终端的普及,以及用户需求的提高,在Internet上提供移动性支持成为移动ISP提供商的候选方案。这里给出了在这一领域的研究情况和Mobile IP的基本机制,讨论了 Mobile IP所带来的各种问题,如三角路由开销、隧道开销、分片开销及其网络层切换在TCP性能方面的影响。
Recent initiatives to add mobility to the Internet are being considered by emerging mobile service providers as Possible candidate solutions for the delivery of IP data to mobile users. Mobile IP represents simple and scalable global mobility solution. This paper presents the basic principle of IETF Mobile IP and introduces addition overheads such as tunneling, fragmentation, the dogleg route and the handover overhead. The degradation extent of TCP performance when using Mobile IP compared with normal IP routing is discussed.
