An Overview of the Scholarship on Du Yaquan’s Ideas

随着《杜亚泉文选》的出版以及纪念杜亚泉诞辰120周年全国讨论会的召开,杜亚泉作为五四时期重要的思想家、教育家和编辑家等历史地位及时代意义越来越受到应有的重视,并重新获得了历史评价。而通过对杜亚泉思想的演变及其线索,杜亚泉文化思想的评价,杜亚泉政治、科学、教育、中西文化调和观等相关研究成果的梳理和总结,则可促进对杜亚泉研究以及对五四启蒙运动、中西文化对战、文化激进主义与保守主义价值分歧等内容研究的进一步深入。

With the publication of Selected Works of Du Yaquan and the holding of the national seminar in honor of Du Yaquan ’s 120th anniversary,Du Yaquan,one of the important thinkers,educators,and editors of the May 4th period,has increasingly been given adequate attention in terms of his historic status and significance and has acquired an appropriate historic evaluation.The assessing of his thoughts’ evolution and relevant clues and his cultural ideas and the sorting out and summarizing of the research on his political,scientific,educational ideas as well as his approach to integrating Chinese and western cultures may contribute to the research into the scholarship on him and into the study of the May 4th Enlightening Movement,the confrontation of Chinese and western cultures,the differences in value between the cultural radicalism and conservatism,etc.
