The Overthrow of Imaginations on Su Shi——from Lin Yutang, Yu Qiuyu to Hu Lancheng

林语堂、余秋雨、胡兰成的苏轼想象各个不同。林、余二人的苏轼建构看似相异,却都是以戏剧化的方式想象苏轼,袭用旧观点,更落了传统思维的窠臼。相较之下,胡兰成的苏轼解读则颇为独特。他打破了中国文化传统中的思维定势,有着自己的思维特质和视角,以此为起点,我们得以走近胡兰成。

Lin Yutang,Yu Qiuyu,and Hu Lancheng have their own perspectives on Su Shi.Lin Yutang ’s and Yu Qiuyu's perspectives,though seemingly different,are the same in their outdated mode of thinking.They both approach Su Shi in a dramatic way and follow the set patterns of traditional thinking.By contrast,Hu Lancheng ’s opinion is very ingenious.He breaks with outmoded conventions of Chinese cultural tradition and has his own thinking characteristics and angles.Taking his unique thinking as the point of departure,we can better approach Hu's Cathay studies.
