摘要
成功外语学习者学习策略是外语教学领域的研究热点,但是,相关研究基本上是以全日制学生为对象,专门聚焦成功远程外语学习者学习策略的研究屈指可数,在国内更是一片空白。本研究采用半结构性访谈的方法,调查了成功与不成功远程英语学习者在学习策略上的差别。研究发现,在词汇、语法、语音和听、说、读、写,乃至学习过程的管理以及以言行事等方面,成功远程英语学习者的学习策略具有鲜明的理性成分,能有效弥补"熟能生巧"中"熟"的不足。此研究发现对远程英语教学改革有诸多启示。
Research on the good language learner’s learning strategies has been high on the agenda of practitioners in the field of Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language(ESL/EFL).Nevertheless,the majority of studies were undertaken in the conventional learning context.This study,therefore,set out to focus on the good distance language learner,investigating 10 successful and 10 unsuccessful distance English learners in China with the aim of constructing a ‘learning strategy’profile of the successful distance learner.Using the research instrument of semi-structured interview,this study investigated the difference in learning strategies between successful and unsuccessful distance English learners in terms of vocabulary,grammar and pronunciation,the skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing,metacognitive skills as well as social skills.Findings indicate that the learning strategies adopted by successful learners embodied more rational features in comparison with those used by unsuccessful learners,hence able to better compensate for lack of practice in the process of distance English learning.Implications for effective distance English instruction were also discussed in the article.
