This paper discusses the important role maintenance plays in ecological balance and sustainable development and measures for its realization. The paper focuses on three aspects, first, the correct and rational assets maintenance is the demands of environmental protection and sustainable development; second, the effects of assets maintenance on environment are determined by the assets design; third, environmental protection and sustainable development are the major factors in maintenance decision making.
