Effects of Differences between Chinese and Western Culture on College English Writing

语言是文化的载体,它反映着文化的发展和变化,同时也直接反映着文化的差异。写作是一种深嵌于文化当中的活动,英语写作是全面、综合地运用外语知识进行英语创作的一种技能,英语写作能力是学习者对目的语实际运用能力的综合体现。从语言与文化的关系出发,分析了中西文化差异对英语写作的影响,强调了只有实现文化和语言的和谐统一才能创作出纯正地道的文字作品。

Language is the carrier of culture,which reflects the cultural development and change as well as the cultural differences.Writing is deeply embedded in cultural activities and it is a comprehensive skill in English.Writing level embodies learners′ actual proficiency in English.From the relationship between language and culture,we analyze the effect of differences between Chinese and Western culture on college English writing and stress that idiomatic English articles can be written only if culture is in perfect harmony and unity with language.
