Duane E. Webster and His Work with ARL

Duane E. Webster, former executive director of ARL had led the association for two decades. Duane E. Webster and oth- er ARL members established LCA, promoting the agenda of the U.S. copyright legislation. He established CNI to explore Internet therectical framework construction. He established SPARC to create a new model of scholarly publishing worldwide. He paid attention to cultivating evaluation culture, leading the development of library evaluation StatsQUAL . Under Webster＇ s leadership, ARL e- merged as a significant agent for change in the world of research libraries, scholarly communication and U.S, public policy.
