Alexander Harley's Roots represents artistically an inhuman phase in American history. The analysis from the perspective of space theory shows that the black's miserable history is the production of space which is designed and controlled by white slave-owners.By means of space separation, the discipline of the body, and the controlling of practice in space, the slavery system successfully and effectively oppresses the black physically, spiritually and materially. The space is of a social nature and the society is the production of space. Therefore, the black's history is indeed a dynamic procedure characterized by the space separation, discipline of bodies, the control of space practice and rebellions in the third space.
