To Shape and to be Shaped——Interaction between China and the U.S.under Multilateral International Mechanism

在全球化的大背景下,中美相互依赖加深,利益交汇点增多。而中美两国的战略抉择为双方在国际多边机制下的互动提供了必要的空间。双方利益交融和结构性矛盾并存,必然导致中美多边互动是既合作又竞争,甚至是斗争。中美在国际多边机制下的互动,既塑造了对方,也塑造了未来,推动国际多边机制的变革。不过,这将是一个从量变到质变的漫长过程。

Under the backdrop of globalization, mutual dependence of China and the U.S. is growing with their confluence points of interest increasing. At the same time, strategic options by the two countries are also available for them to make use of necessary space in their interaction within international multilateral mechanism. As confluence of interests coexists with structural contradictions in their bilateral ties, it is certain that their mutual interaction will give rise to both cooperation and competition, even struggle. Their interaction within international multilateral mechanism would shape the other side and shape the future as well, making it possible for the transformation of international multilateral mechanism. However, this process will be a long way and go through from quantitative to qualitative change.
