On the broad horizon of globalization, the present essay explores the issue of globalization in the current age and its positive and negative effect on culture and its translation. It tries to offer a new interpretation of the traditional definition of translation from the theoretical perspective of Culforal Studies. In view of the characteristics of cultural communication translation bears, the author proposes to do translation studies in the broad context of Cultrual Studies, which might well help locatetranslatology as a marginal discipline between humanities, socialscience and natural science. To the author, translation, as an important means in China's international cultural exchange, should focus on translating Chinese into foreign languages rather than vice versa. Only in this way can Chinese culture preserve its cultural identity in the age of globalization.
