《呼啸山庄》尽管提出了人性的扭曲和复归的问题，但其最重要的贡献却在于提供了１９世纪前期英国由于资本主义发展所造成的农村调敝、社会变动的景象，显示出庄园主的没落衰败，尤其是揭示了其精神的腐朽和崩溃。尽管小说运用了如象征、性格分裂等现代主义文学常用的表现手法，但它并不是一部现代主义作品，从总体构思、创作倾向和表现方法上看，它完全是一部现实主义的杰作。

Although Wathering Heights advances the two subjects of twist and restoration of humanity, the greatest contribution provides the destitude life and social change in the countryside caused by capitalist development of England in the early 19th century,which shows manors on the decline, and especially their decaying and collapsing mentally. From the view of literary and artistic creation, although the author used the techniques of expression such as symbolism and splittism of disposition, which are often used in the literature of modernism,Wuthering Heights is completely a masterpiece of realism from the general view of its conception,creation and the techiques of expression.
