Phonology of Urban Beihai Cantonese in Guanxi

市区白话是北海市的代表方言,属于粤方言钦廉片。市区白话有声母22个,韵母48个,声调8个。市区白话没有撮口呼,古全浊声母清化,并保留古入声韵。该文归纳了北海市区白话的声韵调,分析其语音特点,并列出声韵配合关系表。

The urban Beihai Cantonese,which belongs to the Qinlian dialect sub-division under the whole Cantonese dialect division,is a typical dialect of the whole Beihai area.It contains 22 initial consonants,48 simple and compound vowels and 8 tones,among which no pursed-mouth vowels can be found,the ancient voiced initial consonants have become unvoiced and the ancient entering tones are preserved.The paper describes the phonological system,analyzes the phonetic features and lists the combinations of consonants and vowels of urban Beihai Cantonese.
