Howard's "be chosen"——the Analysis of Howard and the Garden City Planning Theory

霍华德的田园城市的理论至今对城市规划学科的发展还有如此深远的影响。但是,并不是霍华德自己选择成为城市规划学科的奠基人,而是我们需要产生一个学科,这种学科需要一种理论,而恰好在那个时候,有一本名叫《明日的田园城市》的书籍给了我们一个理论的基础。社会需要它来进行改造,人民需要它得以慰藉,统治阶级也出于自身利益认可它。结果,完成了霍华德"被选择"的过程。

Howard＇s theory of Garden City has put a far--reaching impact on the development of disciplines of urban planning. However, it is not Howard himself who chose to become the founder of the discipline of urban planning, but we need to generate a subject, and we need a theory, coincidently at that time, there was a book called Garden Cities of Tomorrow which had given us a theory foundation. The community need it to be transformed, the people need it to be comforted, the ruling class also recognized it for their own interests. Consequently, Howard was chosen.
