The New and the Old of Kyoto in My Eyes

京都是日本着重保护的古都,城市里随处可见到历史建筑和美丽的景色.像许多有着悠久历史文脉的城市一样,在经济高速发展的过程中,京都的历史环境也受到了一定的破坏,也存在新旧思想观念的争斗.但随后《古都保存法》《文化财保护法》等的出台和修订使人们保护历史文化遗产的认识不断提高.京都城区重点保护了四处各有特色的历史街区,这些地方成为著名的观光游览地.如今,对传统的重视与继承让京都这座具有深厚历史的城市继续保有历史的风采.同时,随着时代的发展,对新事物的追求,并没有与过去的事物产生特别强烈的冲突,反而更添了这座古城的活力.

In Kyoto,the highly-protected ancient capital of Japan,historical buildings and beautiful scenery can be seen everywhere.Like most cities with long history,,the historical part of Kyoto has been,to some degree,damaged in the rapid economic development,with the clashes between the traditional and the new ideas.However,the establishment and amendment of the Ancient Capital Cities Preservation Law and the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties has raised the public's awareness of protecting the historical and cultural heritage.Four featured districts have been highly protected in Kyoto,and have become famous resorts for sightseeing and touring.Nowadays,tradition is greatly valued and inherited,enabling Kyoto,the city with profound history,to maintain its historic elements.Meanwhile,the pursuit to new things has made this city more vibrant instead of exerting strong conflicts on the tradition as time goes by.
