In order to probe into the effect of emotions on the expression and development of the adults' theory of mind(ToM),four kinds of adult's ToM tasks and ninety emotional arousal pictures were used to measure 72 undergraduates and graduate students' ToM level and their different types of emotions respectively. The influence of positive emotions, negative emotions and neutral emotions on the adults' ToM was explored deeply. The main results were as follows:(1) Different types of emotions had significant influence on the adults' ToM.That was to say,the positive emotions contributed to the improvement of the adults' ToM level, while the negative emotions inhibited the expression of their ToM level.(2) Both the high ToM level and the low ToM level in adults were affected by the different types of emotions, but the difference between the two effects was not significant.
