砸狱劫囚与以毒攻毒——太平天国北伐时期清政府的监犯问题

The rescue of the prisoners and the tit-for-tat struggle between Taiping troops and the Qing government

太平军北伐对北方监狱构成一定冲击 ,所到之处 ,即释放在押监犯 ,或吸纳参军 ;清政府相应对监犯采取三项处置 :对罪行重大者就地处决 ;对有关监狱的囚犯实行转移 ;挑选犯罪较轻的犯人充军 ,“许立功自赎”。

Whichever places the Taiping troops accupied,they would rescue the prisoners,making use of them.The Qing goverment waged a tit for tat struggle against Taiping troops,taking three measures:1.killed the prisoners who were guilty of monstrous crimes;2.moved away the prisoners;3.transported the prisoners to a distant place for penal servitude.
