Inter-Industry Spillovers of Foreign Direct Investment and Provincial Industrial Growth in China

摘要基于2003-2008年中国省区工业细分产业数据,本文考察了FDI对内资产业增长率的影响。在控制了省区和行业的固定效应及产业间动态外部性的影响后,我们发现FDI对内资产业增长率具有显著的行业间溢出效应。但是所有制和地区的差别导致对溢出吸收效果的不同,非国有企业可以全面地吸收外资的行业间溢出;而国有企业不能利用FDI后向溢出促进自身发展。在直辖市和西藏以外的地区,FDI对国有企业的前向溢出甚至都不再显著。 Based on the disaggregated industrial data from 2003 to 2008 of China＇ s provinces, this paper estimates the effect of FDI on the growth of domestic industries. After controlling for the dynamic externalities and the fixed effects both of provinces and industries, we find that FDI does promote the growth of domestic industries via inter - industry spillovers. However, the absorptive abilities differ by ownership and region. While the none - SOEs can fully absorb the inter - industry spillover, the SOEs cannot make use of the backward spillover, however. In the sub - sample without municipality cities and Tibet, the forward spillover on SOEs shows no evidence.
