The paper gives an all-round account of the comprehensive automation of Zhengzhou Bei Classification Station,the largest in the railway network in China, including the reasons for establishing the project, contents of the comprehensive automation project, economic benefits acquired,lessons drawn, and a few technical issues that need to be further discussed. It emphasizes the major functions and characteristics of the process control system, data processing system, and supporting system.
