Teaching English Culture in Chinese Universities

英语文化教学应该被带入中国的大学英语课堂教学之中。对英语文化的了解能够帮助中国学生加深对英语语言的理解,并能帮助他们能够更有效地运用英语进行交流。本文介绍了文化的概念,并把文化与语言的教学联系在一起。本文回顾了文化教学的历史以及目前在中国的大学中英语教育的改革现状,解释了为什么要在中国的大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学的原因,同时,也提出了如何在大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学,提出了一些可行性措施。作者还根据自己多年的教学经验,阐述了在大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学的困难所在,并提出解决办法。以此期望能够对今后的英语教学有所借鉴。

The teaching of culture should be brought into the EFL classrooms in Chinese universities. Understanding English culture can help Chinese students deepen the understanding of the English language and communicate more effectively in English. This paper introduces the concept of culture and links culture with language teaching. this paper explains the reasons for integrating culture with English teaching in Chinese universities. Strategies for integrating culture with English teaching are studied to provide feasibilities for this practice. Basing on the experience as an English teacher, the author generalizes difficulties in teaching culture in the EFL classroom. In the last part, recommendations are made for practice.
