河东地处山西西南,是早期人类活动集中的区域之一,也是人类文明起源地之一。水作为人类生活和生产必不可少的自然元素,在古代河东水文化形成过程中起着重要作用。民间传说中人因水成神或神假水助人的故事,生活中人因水敬神的仪式或人治水利民的行动,综合地形成了河东独特水文化中的人神观。这种人神观充分体现出河东人崇尚勇敢、智慧、善良、勤劳、务实、守信的优秀品质。

Hedong,in the southwest of ShanXi,was one central area of human activities and origin of civilization.As a necessary natural resource,water was significant in Hehong water culture.Lifelike stories had it said that water helped to make gods and gods helped human being by water.Combined with these stories,ceremonies to worship gods and activities to control water promoted holy-mortal view of Hedong water culture,which expresses excellent qualites of Hedong people——bravery,intelligence,kindness,diligence and honest.
