海洋交通运输英语词汇密度及覆盖率研究

On the Lexical Density and Vocabulary Coverage of Marine Transportation English

主要通过《海洋交通运输英语语料库》与科技英语语料库JDEST、航海英语语料库NEC和普通英语语料库FLOB进行对比,研究海洋交通运输英语的词汇密度和《大学英语课程教学要求》(2007)词汇对海洋交通运输英语词汇覆盖率。研究发现海洋交通运输英语名词词汇密度大、词汇密度低。此外,《大学英语课程教学要求》词汇对海洋交通运输英语词汇覆盖率很低,无法满足专业英语学习的需要。

This paper,through comparing Corpus of Marine Transportation English（CMTE） with scientific English corpus JDEST,navigation English corpus NEC and common English corpus FLOB,mainly investigates the lexical density and vocabulary coverage of Marine Transportation English by the vocabulary of College English Curriculum Requirements（2007）.Results of the study demonstrate that CMTE has greater noun density but lower verb density.The study also finds very low vocabulary coverage of CMTE by the vocabulary required in College English Curriculum Requirements,which is difficult to meet the demand of major English studies.
