The new protection requirements for moving fan blades in information technology equipment are discussed. The concept of hazard classification is introduced and the K factor of the fan is calculated. The moving fan blades are divided into grades of A, B and C according to the severity of mechanical hazards they produced. The responding protection requirements for the fans vary depending on their different grades.
