Rational Progressive and Crisis:Interpretation and Analysis of Weber's Idea of Modernity

韦伯将理性主义与现代性结合起来,认为近代欧洲资本主义文明的所有成果都是理性主义的产物,正是理性的作用促成了现代性的生成。但理性主义给资本主义社会带来进步和促进发展的同时,又带来一系列的社会冲突和危机,其最终结果是把人类装进一个钢铁般的牢笼里。韦伯理性化的现代性分析不仅为后来的现代性研究提供了一个理论出发点与分析框架,对后发国家的发展也具有重要的借鉴意义,但韦伯提出的应对现代性困境的诸多举措只能"治标",难以"治本"。

Weber combined rationalism and modernity, he thought modern European capitalist civilization were all the results of rationalism, which led to the formation of modernity. But when rationalism promoted the progress of capitalist society, it also brought a range of social conflict and crisis, which put man in the iron cage in the end. Weber＇s analysis of rationalism modernity was not only provided a starting point and the analytical framework for the later theoretical study, it also has an important reference for the development of developing country. But Weber＇s measures to the plight of modernity is only a ＂ temporary＂, and could not cure the problems fundamentally.
