Comparative Analysis of Five English Versions of Guanju from Appraisal Perspective

评价理论是在系统功能语言学理论框架下对人际意义研究的新发展,评价意义体现语篇的人际功能。翻译过程中评价意义对等是衡量译文质量的重要标准之一。本文基于马丁的评价理论,对比分析《关雎》的五个英译本中评价意义的表达及实现情况,旨在从评价理论的角度衡量《关雎》五种译文的翻译质量,并发现如何将评价理论运用到翻译研究中去。

Appraisal theory is a new lexical-grammar framework which developed from the model of interpersonal meaning,concerning about the interpersonal attitudes negotiated in the text and providing an efficient tool for the analysis of interpersonal meaning.Taking the equivalence of interpersonal meaning as a base,the paper attempts to make a comparative analysis on the five English versions from the appraisal perspective,and proves that the appraisal theory can be applied into the translation study.
