The paper compares the kunqu opera Loyal Thieve and Huangmei opera Cai Mingfeng Farewell Lover,and believes that though the two operas express the same theme,based on the differences of scholar narrative and civil stand,their subject,the central figure and the arts have different characteristics,etc.Loyal Thieve expresses the author＇s understanding of uncorrupted government and political system,then creates a image of a loyal thieve.The text structure is inseparable and it＇s a very personal writing.Cai Mingfeng Farewells Lover tells the tragedies of two families caused by extramarital affairs,guiding the audience to seriously examine the relationship between family and marriage.It shapes a impression of a love sentiment but unlucky woman,shows the customs of civil society in particular and social realities of life,reflects the grassroots social awareness and attitude towards life,and sets some interesting and credible plots.Although somewhat crude in art,it still can not be replaced with a civilian theater folk character and spiritual life.
