摘要
国立大学校长,是中国近代大学校长的主要组成部分,是中国近代高等教育发展的实践者和标志性人物。对中国近代国立大学校长的研究,已成为当前高等教育史研究的热点。已有的研究中对单个著名国立大学校长的研究居多,对国立大学校长这一整体的研究则寥寥无几,因此对国立大学校长的法律地位的探讨是全面认识他们的有效补充。中国近代国立大学校长是由政府或最高领导人任命的、具有简任官及以上管等的群体,总辖国立大学全部事务,享有国立大学教职员中的最高待遇。
Since public university presidents were the backbone and iconic figures of higher education development in early modern China,they have become a research hotspot in the field of higher education research.Nevertheless,current studies mainly focus on one of those presidents,rather than conducting a comprehensive study of them as a whole,hence the need of an enquiry into their legal status.It is found that these presidents,appointed by the government or the top leaders,held the highest office in the national administrative division,had jurisdiction over all aspects of the university affairs,and enjoyed the highest salaries among university faculty.
