At the end of elective movemnet of annual chinese character which launched by tianya net forum, ＂zhang（,涨） ＂ won the election with high votes and become the annual chinese character. And this is the second time that ＂zhang（涨） ＂ has achieved this title ever since the year 2007. This paper analyzes the pattern, sound, meaning and the development of the character ＂zhang（涨） ＂ from the perspective of etymology and philology to help readers better understand the background knowledge of this character.
